Jeffery L Peterson
Jeffery and I used to hang out in Vienna like two mildly mischievous school boys looking for trouble. We’d spend the long summer days at wine bars somewhere off the Graban, or on our Gucci folding bikes looking for a Gusthaus to review. Mid-morning starts (always later than planned), long lunches that we’d wish would never end, and late night ramblings at Szigeti Sektcomptoir, tasting the best fizz Vienna has to offer.
A certified Sommelier, Jeffery knows his way around not just the Austrian vineyards, but European and the Americas, too. I loose count of the nights we sampled young and old varietals all over Vienna and it’s neighbouring countryside, often accompanied by Jeffery’s entourage of international socialites. Not much gets past his vintage nasel passages, although we’d often agree to disagree on Burgenland reds. But what do I know, I’m just a camera jockey with a penchant for fizzy stuff.
If you ever get a chance to sit for a few hours with Jeffery and talk wine, travel and Broadway – do.
